Crafting a brand for Blacksticks Blue with real stand out on-shelf and increased sales of 19% year on year!
Utterly unique, this golden-hued cheese had been named the ‘Daddy of blue cheeses’ by British chef Simon Rimmer. But its lacklustre packaging, full of clichéd images of cows and fields, did little to convey the taste and personality of this exceptional artisan cheese.
Our starting point was the story behind the name. Just up the road from the dairy was Blacksticks Lane, so called because of the chestnut trees that stood out like blacksticks in the winter. Bringing this to the fore, we were able to create a distinctive and ownable brand.
Our work for Blacksticks has really captured the handcrafted values of this family business and acted as a catalyst for a wealth of NPD which celebrates the artisans at the heart of the brand.
